Biography
KT is Senior Director of Legal and Head of Privacy at Helix, where they are responsible for counseling Helix’s business and research teams on data sharing and data privacy issues. They have a decade of experience leading privacy initiatives in the healthcare sector and advising on transactional structure, research ethics, privacy and information security, and data sharing in the context of complex population health and clinical research projects. Helix’s mission is to empower every person to improve their life through DNA. Helix is the leading population genomics company operating at the intersection of clinical care, research, and genomics. Its end-to-end platform enables health systems, life sciences companies, and payers to advance genomic research and accelerate the integration of genomic data into clinical care. Helix is powered by one of the world’s largest CLIA / CAP next-generation sequencing labs and has the first and only FDA authorized whole exome sequencing platform. In response to the COVID-19 public health crisis, Helix launched a sensitive and scalable end-to-end COVID-19 test and viral surveillance system to meet the needs of health systems, employers, governments, and other organizations across the country. Prior to joining Helix, KT was Senior Counsel in the Research and Life Sciences Group at Sutter Health. KT holds a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School and an M.S. in Information Systems from the University of Utah.
